Wilson Simonal

Wilson Simonal was a Brazilian singer who helped shape Brazilian popular music, particularly the pilantragem sound that dominated late-1960s charts. He is known as Brazil’s first Black pop superstar and for bringing together bossa nova, jazz, and orchestral pop in hits like “Balanço Zona Sul,” while also recording early work by prominent Brazilian songwriters.
