There’s a red mark on your collar
And a story on your tongue
You’ve been practicing your answer
But you’re not a gifted one
Don’t say traffic, don’t say friends
We both know how this one ends
That lipstick alibi won’t save you tonight
Wrong shade of red and your timing ain’t right
You can lie to yourself, but don’t waste one on me
Your lipstick alibi just set me free
I was patient, I was pretty
I was everything you asked
Now I’m dancing in the kitchen
While I throw away your past
Don’t say sorry, don’t pretend
I look better at the end
That lipstick alibi won’t save you tonight
Wrong shade of red and your timing ain’t right
You can lie to yourself, but don’t waste one on me
Your lipstick alibi just set me free
Tell her she can keep the liar
I’ll be busy looking higher
That lipstick alibi looks good in the light
Proof that losing you was something I got right
You can lie to yourself—I’m exactly where I should be
Your lipstick alibi just set me free
