La chance aux chansons
Luck to the songs
La France a raison
France is right
D'aimer ces musiques
To love these melodies
Ces poèmes
These poems
Ils viennent dans nos cœurs
They come into our hearts
Y mènent en douceur
Gently lead us along
Une existence un peu bohème
A life a little bohemian
Et tant de souvenirs
And so many memories
Que l'on croyait incertains
That we thought uncertain
S'éveillent un beau matin
Awaken one beautiful morning
Dans un refrain
In a refrain
Alors nous disons
So we say
En toute saison
In every season
Il faut donner la chance aux chansons
We must give a chance to songs
Tu te souviens de celle
Do you remember the one
Qui répétait toujours
That always repeated
Que la vie était belle
That life was beautiful
Au temps de tes amours
In the time of your loves
Elle revient légère
She returns light
Sur l'aile du printemps
On the wings of spring
Pour te parler ma chère
To speak to you, my dear
De nos vingt ans
About our twenty years
Et tant de souvenirs
And so many memories
Que l'on croyait incertains
That we thought were uncertain
S'éveillent un beau matin
Awaken one beautiful morning
Dans un refrain
In a refrain
Alors nous disons
So we say
En toute saison
In every season
Il faut donner la chance aux chansons
We must give a chance to songs
Il faut donner la chance aux chansons
We must give a chance to songs
