I Started a Joke lyrics with English translation

I started a joke

I began a jest

Which started the whole world crying

That made the whole world weep

But I didn't see

But I was blind to see

That the joke was on me, oh no

I started to cry

I started to weep

Which started the whole world laughing

And the whole world erupted in laughter

Oh, if I'd only seen

Oh, if only I had known

That the joke was on me

That the jest was at my expense

I looked at the skies

I gazed at the heavens

Running my hands over my eyes

Wiping my eyes with my hands

And I fell out of bed

Hurting my head from things that I'd said

'Til I finally died

Which started the whole world living

Oh, if I'd only seen

That the joke was on me

I looked at the skies

Running my hands over my eyes

And I fell out of bed

Hurting my head from things that I'd said

'Til I finally died

'Til I finally passed away

Which started the whole world living

That sparked life in the whole world

Oh, if I'd only seen

Oh, if I had only realized

That the joke was on me, oh no

That the joke was on me
